Audiometer addendum
I (the Webmaster) visited the Antrim Elementary School today to put a small plaque on the audiometer. It was good to see the school nurse had it out (from before the weekend) -- it means it must be useful! :-)
Either way, I figured it might be nice to show Lion Dave Ward modeling the hearing machine for us last Tuesday. A bit taller than the grade-schooler who modeled it for a newspaper picture, but with the same useful energy :-)

A new audiometer for Antrim Elementary School
The nurse's office at Antrim Elementary School (AES) was the site of a welcome presentation today when the Antrim-Bennington Lions Club provided AES a new audiometer. Prior to the gift, if a student was in need of a hearing test, the school nurse either had to organize a special visit to the Great Brook Middle School or borrow an audiometer from another district school. Principal Debbie Lesure and School Nurse Judith Bernardi noted the importance of the machine, "Your donation plays an integral part in the health care we provide to the students here at Antrim Elementary School. Because of your donation, we will be able to detect hearing problems promptly and refer the students to qualified medical personal for follow-up care."
The audiometer was purchased with proceeds from the November 12th's annual Antrim-Bennington Lions Club Hunters Breakfast and a grant from the Lions Sight & Hearing Foundation of New Hampshire. At hand for the presentation were Ms. Lesure, Ms. Bernardi, Antrim-Bennington Lions Club President Linda Ward, Lion David Ward, Lion Sarah Edwards, Lion Alan Fahrner, and soon-to-be-Lion Michelle Fahrner.

(Sold Out) Annual Christmas Tree Sale
To the left is a picture of a happy snow-clearing crew at the beginning of what turned out to be the last weekend of Antrim-Bennington Lions Club Christmas tree sales this year -- although the photo does leave out a couple people actively using machinery to clear the most recent snowfall, and the cameraman did his fair share of shoveling :-).
Final figures will follow...but it's another year of record sales for our annual fundraiser. Proceeds go toward Operation Santa -- so as the trees add holiday cheer to area homes, the purchasers can know that many local children will have a merrier Christmas because their gift wishes will be fulfilled. Thanks to all who decided to get their trees from us!
I'm leaving the original web site announcement below, partially to show that we had planned on another weekend of sales, only to have great public support remove the need for it :-)
It's time for our annual Christmas Tree Sale!
The first three weekends in December (12/3-4, 10-11, & 17-18) you can head down to Tenney Farm on 1 Main Street in Antrim, New Hampshire and have a chance to purchase some of the best trees in the area. Although our costs have gone up, we've kept our price at only $30 per tree.
(The address above is a link to a Google map of the location, which will also allow you to get directions.)
Last year was a sell-out, so don't wait until the last weekend to grab one -- there may be none to grab!
Hours are 9-4 on Saturday and 10-4 on Sunday.
All proceeds go back to the community, so be sure to visit -- even if you don't leave with a tree you can help warm up a couple Lions with good conversation :-)
(If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail us.)

Annual Hunters Breakfast on November 12, 2005
The Antrim-Bennington Lions Club will be cooking up a hunters breakfast on Saturday, November 12 at the Antrim First Presbyterian Church on Main Street in downtown Antrim. Whether you are a hunter or not, you can't beat the tremendous menu:
- Eggs
- Ham
- Homemade baked beans
- Biscuits
- Home fries
- Fresh brewed coffee, juice, and milk
New this year will be the option of "take-out" -- for the hunter or busy person who wants to grab-and-go.
What isn't new are the prices...we've maintained the inexpensive $5.00 per adult, $3.00 for children under 6 and seniors over 60. You can get them at the door or purchase them ahead of time at Tenney's Farm, Route 202, in Antrim.
All proceeds go back into the community, so you can help your neighbor as you help yourself to a scrumptious meal! :-)
(If you click on the image above, you can get an Adobe PDF version of the breakfast's flier/poster that you can share with friends and work...)

Web site launched!
Late last night (actually early this morning), the new Antrim-Bennington Lions Club web site (ABLions.org) was launched. It's still got some holes to fill-in information-wise, but if we waited until 100% we may never have turned it on :-)
If you catch any typos or have any suggestions, please contact us.
