The Antrim-Bennington Lions Club is a local, community service organization which is part of Lions Clubs International. Our club was created in 1981 and has been providing services to the international and local community since that time. We are always eager to welcome new members interested in serving their local community.-
Fundraising: Our fundraising events allow us to raise money to help fund projects to assist those in need within our community. We co-sponsored the Chicken Barbeque at Antrim’s Home and Harvest celebration, sold Christmas Trees and sponsored a train show to raise funds. All of the money that is raised goes to support our community projects to promote the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
Local Projects: We have provided funding for Operation Santa, cosponsored Antrim Recreation’s Bike Rodeo by purchasing a bike for the winner of the raffle. We have sponsored a softball team for the Antrim Recreation’s Baseball program. We also donated to the Days of Summer camp for local youth through Antrim Recreation
In recent years we have conducted eye screenings at First Friends Preschool in Antrim, purchased an audiometer for Antrim Elementary School, purchased a TV/DVD player for the community room at Antrim Village, provided means for eye exams, glasses and hearing aids for qualifying individuals and provided scholarships to summer camp for youth.
We collect
and recycle used eye glasses and hearing aids. In 2009 we complied the Outdoor Guide to Antrim and Bennington which was published in June 2009.
Statewide Projects: The Lions helped sponsor the annual Lions Twin State Soccer games in which Con-Val has been represented. Funds from this event go to the New Hampshire Lion’s Sight and Hearing Foundation. The Antrim-Bennington Lions Club has also supported the New Hampshire Association for the Blind, NH Sight & Hearing Foundation, Dogsight Project and LCIF (Lions International program that helps support health projects and provides disaster relief throughout the world).
Fun Projects: It is a combination of work and play as our local club has several get-togethers during the year. We have gone to a Fishercats baseball games, enjoyed a summer outing on Franklin Pierce Lake with water activities, socializing and BBQ, and a Christmas party in December with our traditional Yankee Swap. |
